Crate training your puppy takes patience, but it’s a win-win situation for all involved. At Puppy Kindergarten Training, we provide crate training services for Puppies. On this page, we’ll cover some of the most frequently asked questions about our crate training service for puppies.
When can I enroll my puppy in crate training?
Socialization is always the top priority as your puppy’s brain develops. Training can start at any age, but 9-10 weeks is a great time to start. However, it’s best to start earlier, so your puppy doesn’t have much time to form unwanted habits. At Puppy Kindergarten Training, we can get your puppy in the right direction so that you can see more of the behaviors you want to see.
How do you handle puppies that are aggressive or reactive to strangers?
Our crate training program begins with an initial consult. This allows us to get a behavior history of the puppy and identify environmental contingencies to know what we need to work on and what already exists. We then create a training plan of action that bridges your starting point with the end goals.
Does my puppy need to be vaccinated?
All dogs that come here must be healthy and current on the required vaccines. Puppies get vaccinations every 3-4 weeks. So it is not necessary if your puppy is not up to 16 weeks old. If your puppy is over 16 weeks old, they need to be fully vaccinated.
How frequently will my puppy get trained?
Puppies go through different training sessions every day as they develop and learn new skills in different environments.
Who will train my puppy?
Our and company owner, Courtney Boeglen, and a senior trainer will train your puppies.
What will my puppy learn?
Your puppy will learn different commands, including come, stay, sit, down, release, wait, targeting, kennel up, drop it, leave it, leash walking, and more. The length of enrollment and whether your puppy has received any prior training will determine the number of commands and behaviors learned.
Can I still enroll in the crate training program if my puppy is over six months of age?
If your puppy is between 6-12 months of age and wants to enroll in our crate training program, we ask you to contact us to discuss your training goals to determine if our crate training program is the right fit for your pup. We will enroll older puppies occasionally if the training goals are appropriate.
Will I have to practice with my puppy after they return home?
Yes. We’ll equip you with the knowledge you need to maintain your puppy’s new skills during your completion session. We hoped you could become your puppy’s trainer by establishing reliable obedience and effective communication through regular training together.
Do you guarantee results?
Yes. We’ll train your puppy ethically and humanely. We guarantee that our training methods are well-vetted and scientifically backed while working towards long-term behavioral improvement.
